Ganyu build guide

Ganyu
Ganyu character card

Ganyu or Cocogoat is a hypercarry DPS bow character that has became the benchmark used to gauge other 5 star DPS characters. With an absurd damage multiplier in her charged attack, it becomes even more ridiculous with how this seemingly sleepy adepti can utilize different artifact sets, team composition and weapons to near maximum potential with little to no investment. Ganyu only weaknesses is understanding when her window of attack is and also not missing her charged shots. Both of which is entirely upon the player themself to learn and improve. Hence, why the community till this day consider her as the most “broken” character.

Freeze DPS build typically exploits the way Ganyu’s burst interacts once enemies are being Crowd Control (CC) aka “sucked”. Ganyu’s burst icicle provide both AOE damage and a guarantee hit every few intervals. These numbers of guarantee hits increases when a large group of enemies are sucked. Compound this with the Mona Omen extension mechanic, VV shred, and a 4 piece Blizard Strayer that focuses solely on Crit Damage this team composition has remain one of the strongest to date. The only weakness is that it requires a high investment of 5 star characters the its just a matter of figuring out how the rotation works. Venti can be interchangeable with any Anemo character with 4 piece Viridescent Venerer (VV) and CC ability. This team comp is dubbed as Morgana.

Freeze Ganyu

Freeze Ganyu gives a lot of i-frames since you would be spamming Elemental Burst from all of your party members off cooldown. Ganyu’s Elemental Burst can deal a ton of damage depends on how grouped the enemies are. When using her Elemental Burst, make sure to stand inside to benefit from the Cryo DMG Bonus buff.

Regarding Weapon Choices:

Polar Star: This weapon is much harder to optimize with, due to having a very high Crit Rate stat resulting in your Crit Rate going well above 100%. However, if optimised properly (i.e. very little Crit Rate rolls and more rolls into ATK/Crit DMG), it pulls ahead of the other two options.
Thundering Pulse and Skyward Harp:
In quickswap heavy rotations (Ganyu Mona Venti Diona) where you usually don’t do a lot of Charged Shots, these two weapons could pull ahead of Amos’ Bow.
Prototype Crescent: Similar to the Melt Build, Crescent can pull ahead of Skyward Harp at high refines and with good uptime on its passive. However, its performance is affected by enemies having/not having a weak spot you can consistently headshot.

Regarding Artifact Sets:

Blizzard Strayer (4): This set is the go to set for a Frozen team comp, whereas you focus all your stats on Crit DMG while prioritizing ATK% over Crit Rate%. This has high damage and energy sustainability while also be used outside of Freeze comps for a flat 20% Crit Rate against enemies with a Cryo status. A Hydro Support would be appreciated with Blizzard Strayer (4) Ganyu. Highly Recommended, especially for players who have Ganyu at C4.

Ganyu’s Level 2 Charged Shot applies two instances Cryo as they do not share the same ICD, which allows you to trigger Melt reaction twice for both damage instances. Charged Attack will be the majority of her damage output while neglecting her Skill/Burst damage contribution for most scenarios.

Regarding Weapon Choices:

Amos’ Bow: Amos is an excellent weapon for Ganyu since her Level 2 Charge Shot Bloom extends arrow flight duration and you can get 3 stacks of Amos’ passive even on point blank range.
Hamayumi: This weapon doesn’t synergize well with Shimenawa’s Reminiscence (4) due to its passive.
Prototype Crescent: At [R5] with good uptime on its passive, it can potentially beat Skyward Harp. However, do bear in mind that not all enemies have weak spots that you can headshot, which does affect its performance significantly.
