Yaoyao’s Role and Skills

Yaoyao is a Dendro healer released in patch 3.4 with Alhaitham. Her kit is pretty similar to Sayu’s Burst where she’ll throw a bunny onto the field and it will alternate between healing and damaging enemies. Yaoyao’s Elemental Skill (E) creates a bunny that will continuously shoot out a White Jade Radish every second for 10 seconds. The Radishes switch between dealing damage to enemies and healing your active character depending on your character’s health. Her Burst (Q) makes all Yuegui bunnies heal the entire party and deal increased damage, and Yaoyao will generate up to 3 additional Yuegui bunnies.

How To Build Yaoyao

Early theorycrafting suggest that there are primarily 2 ways to build Yaoyao. First, you build her for a Bloom team specifically a Nilou Bloom since she can both apply Dendro off-field while also healing her team. In a Nilou Bloom, Yaoya won’t act as the sole Dendro as her Dendro application won’t be fast enough. Instead she’ll act as the 2nd Dendro character next to Nahida giving you the option of swapping out Kokomi for Xingqiu for more damage and Hydro application. Build wise, she should concentrate on going full healer route into HP to maximize her heals.

The second build would be for a Quicken team. As she can apply Dendro and heal off-field, she should theoretically work well in a Aggravate setup. Having said that, you’ll want your team to compose of any high DPS characters with a quickswap play style. This includes Raiden, Alhaitham, Cyno, and Keqing but its too early to tell what her most optimize team would be. For build, you can either go into HP for heals or a traditional DPS route for Yaoyao just to squeeze more damage. Alternately, you can use a 4 piece Tenacity of Millelith to buff your team ATK.

Artifact set

Deepwood Memories FlowerDeepwood Memories (4): This Yaoyao’s BiS set due to her bunnies off-field presence. This makes her an ideal candidate to hold 4DW giving the other Dendro character in the team the space to run a different set for more damage.
Tenacity of the Millelith FlowerTenacity of the Millelith (4): Because of her off-field presence with her bunny from E and low cooldown, she can run 4ToM to boost her team’s ATK.
Maiden Beloved SandMaiden Beloved (4): Huge healing buffs makes this the best set for a healer build Yaoyao. In most cases it would be an overkill to have so much healing but for team such as in Nilou bloom, it is a viable option.
Instructor(4): Boosts team damage at the cost of Yaoyao’s personal contribution due to 4* stats.

Weapon

Favonius Lance (4✩): Provide huge energy recharge and also battery her team giving more support capability.
Staff of the Scarlet Sands (5✩): Early calculation suggests this would be her BiS weapon.
Staff of Homa (5✩): Helps boost her damage while also buffing her HP giving her better heals.
Kitain Cross Spear (4✩): A combination of damage (EM substat and Skill DMG) and ER (Flat Energy passive).
Black Tassel (4✩): High HP% stat boosts Yaoyao’s healing. Can be used with an ER sands.
Moonpiercer (4✩): A particularly valuable weapon when supporting ATK-scaling units.

Talent

Skill (E) > Burst (Q)

Most of her utility as a Dendro healer comes from her E where she throw her bunny onto the field. In fact, her Q is simply a more stronger version of her E as it multiplies her bunny hence its not really necessary to Burst every rotation.
