Xiangling Build Guide (Patch 4.6)

Xiangling

Xiangling’s Role and Skills

Xiangling functions as an off-field Pyro DPS that does a ton of damage from her Pyronado. Her strength primarily comes from her Burst (Q) that does high AOE Pyro damage that can also be further amplified from Elemental Reactions. Add this with the fact that her Burst (Q) can snapshot with Bennett’s Q making her crucial for endgame content and meta comps.

Her only weakness is that she does not generate enough energy for herself to maintain a high Burst (Q) uptime. That’s why her build would always prioritize Energy Regeneration (ER) before aiming for high Crit Rate / Damage.

Artifact set

Emblem of Severed Fate (4)
Xiangling’s BiS

EoSF is easily Xiangling’s best set as it provides an ER buff and increases her Burst (Q) damage based on total ER.
She should prioritize ER anyway so the set Bonus streamlines her build and reward you for it.

Crimson Witch FlowerCrimson Witch (4)

2pc provides +15% Pyro DMG and 4pc gives +15% Vape DMG. However she cannot fully utilize the extra “Using E increases the 2-Piece Set Bonus by 50%. Max 3 stacks.” since her E cooldown is 12s.
This set can be competitive with EoSF on team comps where Xiangling triggers Overloads, Vaporize or lowEnergy Recharge requirements (i.e. Raiden National).

Gilded Dreams FlowerGilded Dreams (4)

A decent endgame choice since she ideally should be Vaping or Overloading all her attacks. Regardless if she gets EM or ATK from the 4pc Bonus on Elemental Reaction, she benefit from either one.
Unfortunately its useless for mono Pyro teams and still slightly falls behind CW.

80 EM set (2)
18% ATK set (2)

Any 2pc combinations work for her since she benefits from either of them. Prioritize the 2pc EoSF first since you’ll wanna hit her target ER first before thinking about anything else. The other 2pc sets are basically damage bonus.

Weapon

Staff of the Scarlet Sands
Staff of the Scarlet Sands (5✩)

Xiangling’s best weapon due to its massive Crit Rate stat and passive that she can fully utilize. Its passive provides bonus ATK based on Xiangling’s EM and is stackable when Guoba hit enemies.
Unless you’re whiffing her E, she can easily hit max stacks for the passive.

Staff of HomaEngulfing Lightning
Staff of Homa (5✩)
Engulfing Lightning (5✩)

Either one is incredibly strong due to her being able to utilize their stat and passive.
Homa gives a higher DPS while Engulfing Lighting helps a ton for her ER. You choice should be dependent on whether Xiangling already has enough ER to Burst (Q) every rotation.

The CatchThe Catch (4✩)

Xiangling’s best ‘F2P’ weapon since you can buy it from the Inazuma Fishing Association by exchanging fishes. It provides up to 45.9% ER and a huge 32% bonus damage and 12% Crit Rate for her Burst (Q).

Its competitive to both Homa and Engulfing Lighting and you can R5 the weapon. However the grind to get the necessary fishes is long and arduous so be prepared!

Deathmatch (4✩)
Ballad of the Fjords (4✩)

Both are decent option since they provide a straightforward DPS boost for her. Their only drawback is that they are only accessible from BP and still falls behind The Catch.

Talent

C0-C6

Burst (Q) > Skill (E)

Majority of Xiangling’s damage is from her Q hence you’ll wanna prioritize that Talent first. Her NA can be completely ignored since its damage type is Physical and even with Pyro infusion, her multipliers are too low resulting in DPR1 loss.

Main stat and substat

Sand: ATK% / Energy Recharge
Goblet: Pyro DMG%
Circlet: Crit Rate / DMG

  1. Energy Recharge
  2. Crit Rate / DMG
  3. ATK%
  4. Elemental Mastery

Concentrate on meeting her Energy Requirement (ER) first so she can Burst (Q) every rotation. She has a massive 80 Energy Cost and not having her Q ready during her rotation is a huge DPR1 loss.

Energy Recharge Requirements

  • Ganyu Melt, Xiao, Wanderer: +240%
  • Kokomi Soup/Burgeon: +220%
  • Quickswap Xingqiu/Yelan: ~180%
  • Ayato team: ~180%
  • Raiden National: ~160%
  • Tartaglia team: ~160%

Teams

Xiangling
Sucrose
Reverse Vape Xiangling

Reverse vape Xiangling comps enable her to achieve the highest damage potential for her Burst (Q). The trio is dubbed as the “National Team” and consists of Xiangling, Bennet and Xingqiu. Bennet role in this comp is buffing and generating pyro particles for Xiangling. Xingqiu’s strong single target damage, off-field presence and hydro aura application makes him valuable member to enable Xiangling’s Burst (Q) to vaporize and allow Bennet to take the field. The fourth slot is anyone who can enable the trio to achieve higher damage while not messing with the rotation too much. Currently the strongest fourth slot belongs to Raiden as she can further boost both Xiangling and Xingqiu Burst (Q) while also easing the energy requirement for them.

Xiangling
Childe
Kazuha
Reverse-Vape Childe

Childe’s AOE hydro application would enable Xiangling’s Burst (Q) to vaporize multiple enemies during his attack phase. His downtime then gives the opportunity to battery and do your rotation setup for the next phase. The fourth slot is interchangeable with any Anemo character with 4 piece Viridescent Venerer (VV) set. More about Reverse-Vape Childe here.
