Wriothesley Build Guide (Patch 4.2)

Wriothesley

Wriothesley’s Role and Skills

Wriothesley is a Cryo catalyst DPS character whose kit revolves around him using his Skill (E) first before going on a full punching combo with his Normal Attacks (NA). His E gives him a damage boost onto his NA and also interruption resistance at the cost his HP.

His can gain back his HP with his 2nd Ascension where his next Charged Attack will deal more damage and gain back a portion of his max HP after his HP drops below 60%.

His Burst (Q) is deals one heavy punch towards enemy. It is the least important part of his kit as it does not contribute much for his overall damage.

Artifact set

Marechaussee Hunter FlowerMarechaussee Hunter (4)

Marechaussee Hunter is Wriothesley best set by a sizeable margin as it provides a huge boost onto his Normal Attacks (NA). It only falls short by a small margin compared to Blizzard Strayer in a Wriothesley Freeze team.

Blizzard Strayer FlowerBlizzard Strayer (4)

Blizzard Strayer is Wriothesley best set in a Freeze team by ~4% compared to Marechaussee Hunter set. This shouldn’t be surprising since it comes with a whopping 40% Crit Rate bonus as long as your enemies are frozen!

Vermillion Hereafter FlowerVermillion Hereafter (4)

Vermillion set is a decent option as the HP draining mechanic from Wriothesley (and every Fontaine character) can be used to build the stacks of ATK buff from the set.

Weapon

Cashflow Supervision (5✩)

Wriothesley designated 5-star catalyst remains his best weapon as it gives a buff onto his Normal Attacks (NA) whenever his HP increase or decrease.

Tulaytullah’s Remembrance (5✩)

His 2nd best option as Wriothesley can easily build up the Normal Attack (NA) damage buff towards it maximum throughout his Burst (Q) duration.

The Widsith (4✩)

The Widsith is the best “F2P” option for Wriothesley as he can benefit from most of its buff regardless of which type it is. At R5 on a Melt team, it is his 2nd best option as he pretty much utilize every one of the Widsith buff.

Talent

C0-C6

Normal Attack (NA) > Skill (E) > Burst (Q)

Wriothesley main source of damage comes from his Normal Attacks (NA) hence it shouldn’t be surprising that this will take priority first. His 2nd talent priority is his Skill (E) as it gives a buff onto his NA at the expense of his health.

Main stat and substat

Sand: ATK%
Goblet: Cryo DMG%
Circlet: Crit Rate / DMG

  1. Crit Rate / DMG
  2. Elemental Mastery (Melt)
  3. ATK%
  4. Flat ATK

Stat-wise Wriothesley follows a standard DPS build where you’ll wanna focus on Crit stats above anything else. The only caveat is if you are building him for Melt teams then Elemental Mastery will come in 2nd place. Although he is a Fontaine character, his skills does not scale on HP so it isn’t too confusing when building him.

Energy Recharge Requirements

Wriothesley has no energy requirement because his Burst (Q) has a low cost of only 60 and it also does not contribute much to his overall damage. It is not recommended to put in any ER stats into him.
