Venti’s Role and Skills

Venti is an anemo off-field DPS character that specializes in pulling enemies into his “blackhole” from his Burst. His Skill (E) summons a AOE wind attack that launches enemies into the air. There is both a Press and Hold version with the latter having a larger AOE and also launching Venti into the air.

His Burst (Q) creates a blackhole that sucks enemies into it while dealing damage. His Burst (Q) is the most important part of his kit as its the strongest Crowd Control (CC) mechanic in Genshin.

Building Venti

The 2 optimal endgame build for Venti is either a Swirl or DPS build. In either case, the difference between them is negligible with Swirl being slightly higher for scenarios with multiple enemy. For Swirl build, his damage is mainly from Swirl reaction hence concentrate on EM for his artifact and weapon. Since reaction damage is determined by the level of the character triggering them, focus on maxing out Venti’s level before his talent. For DPS build, simply replace EM with your basic Crit DMG/Rate and Anemo DMG build and then focus on talent levels.

Artifact set

Viridescent Venerer FlowerViridescent Venerer (4)

Venti’s best set is the 4 piece Viridescent as it provides a huge RES shred onto enemies while also boosting his Swirl damage. This set is pretty much the status quo whenever you have any Anemo character.

Noblesse Oblige FlowerNoblesse Oblige (4)

Noblesse is a decent set for Venti if you don’t have a VV set yet. His team can benefit from the ATK buff the set also boosts his Burst (Q) damage.

Gilded Dreams FlowerGlided Dreams (4)

4GD is a decent option if you have another Anemo unit in the team holding. With the RES shred from the external 4VV holder, the damage from 4GD is comparable to if Venti was holding 4VV himself.

Weapon

Elegy for the End (5✩)

Elegy for the End is Venti’s best 5-star bow as it gives him lots of Energy Recharge while providing the team with EM and ATK buffs. In terms of personal damage, it falls short of Stringless but makes up for the buff provided to the team.

The Stringless (4✩)

Venti’s best “F2P” weapon for personal DPS. Depending on refinement, EM Venti with Stringless is competitive with a fully built Crit Venti. It is the safest option and you should run it if you have it if Elegy is not available. Refinements are not as significant for EM Venti, but still useful.

Mouun’s Moon (4✩)

A decent option though the value of this bow depends on your team’s total energy cost, the classic Morgana team (Mona, Ganyu, Venti, Diona) gets its damage fairly close to Stringless.

Alley Hunter (4✩)

Another good option if you got lucky during weapon banners and need Stringless elsewhere. The passive is almost always active for Venti in a quickswap team, letting him take advantage of the sizable damage buff. Just make sure you wait a few seconds to pre-stack its buff before starting an Abyss chamber.

Windblume Ode (4✩)

A solid F2P option if you were lucky to obtain this weapon during the Invitation of Windblume event. Remember to use his Skill before his Burst so that Venti’s Burst can snapshot the ATK% buff this weapon provides.

Talent

C0-C6

Max Character Level > Burst (Q) > Skill (E)

The most important part of Venti’s kit is his ability to suck and Crowd Control (CC) enemy with his Burst (Q). Hence it is no surprise that it will take priority over everything else. His Skill (E) isn’t really that important but you’ll use it often to generate particles for him.

Main stat and substat

Sand: EM
Goblet: EM
Circlet: EM

  1. Elemental Mastery
  2. Energy Recharge
  3. ATK%
  4. Crit Rate / DMG

An EM build Venti focuses on dealing damage through Swirls. Swirl damage is only affected by the character’s level and amount of EM they have. Therefore once you’ve maxed out on Venti’s level, the next step is to stack as much EM as you can through stats. Remember, Swirl damage are not affected by Crit Rate / DMG so these are unimportant.

Energy Recharge Requirements

  • 1 x Skill (E) : 200%
  • 2 x Skill (E) : 170%

Venti’s ER needs are dependent on how many E casts you can squeeze in before using his Burst (Q). Keep in mind that his recommended weapons provides ER while Venti himself has ER as an Ascension stat. So satisfying his ER is actually more easier than it looks.

Constellation

C6 > C4 > C3

It is not recommended to go for any Venti constellation as they are all underwhelming even at C6. EM Venti is unaffected with raw multipliers increase of skill as Swirl damage is only affected by Char lvl and EM. Also, characters released during early patches of the game has rather weak constellation due to Hoyoverse worried about how it might affect game balance. Nowadays, this philosophy has been abandoned and massive power spike for characters are gated behind constellations such as Raiden and Nahida C2.
