Kazuha’s Role and Skills

Kazuha is an EM-scaling Anemo unit that provides his team with a ton of buff and utility. His kit provides an elemental damage buff, strong crowd control (CC), VV shred and AOE damage. These benefits are what made him an exceptional unit that is incredibly versatile and solidified him as a meta character since his release.

EM Kazuha

Kazuha’s 4th Ascension Passive gives his team an elemental damage buff base on his Elemental Mastery (EM). Plus, he can also trigger a large amount of Swirl reaction similar to Venti. This means that in most situation, you’ll always want to build Kazuha for EM instead of a DPS. As long as there are 2 or more enemies on the field, an EM build Kazuha will always out damage a DPS build Kazuha.

Artifact set

Viridescent Venerer FlowerViridescent Venerer (4)

The VV artifact will be Kazuha’s best set since the RES shred will boost his team’s damage and his personal damage by buffing Swirl and Anemo DMG.

This is Kazuha’s universally Best-in-Slot (BiS) set and there is little reason to go for anything else.

Instructor (4)

Instructor is viable in certain teams that rely heavily on Elemental reactions since it provides a team wide 120 EM buff.

Thundering Fury FlowerThundering Fury (4)

Thundering Fury (4) can be used in specific Aggravate or Electro-Charged teams, in which Kazuha frequently triggers the 4pc set effect (E cooldown reduction when triggering an Electro-related reaction on-field).

In these teams, Kazuha’s ability to constantly trigger Aggravate or Electro-Charged or Overloaded with his Skill (E) and Burst (Q) allows him to drastically lower his E cooldown to deal tremendous amounts of damage as a quickswap DPS.

Emblem of Severed Fate FlowerEmblem of Severed Fate (4)

Kazuha’s best set when used as an off-field DPS in Triple Anemo teams since the majority of his personal damage comes from his Burst. EoSF (4) helps meet his ER requirements while utilizing any ER he already has into personal damage.
An Attak-Damage-Crit (ADC) build is recommended in a Triple Anemo comps even if Kazuha can absorb Elements and trigger Swirl.

Weapon

Freedom-Sworn (5✩)

Freedom Sworn is easily Kazuha’s best 5-star weapon as it provides EM stat and also buffs NA DMG and ATK from its passive. The sword further enhances Kazuha’s as a buffer for his team and increases his personal DMG.

Its only beaten in few scenarios where your team does not need to utilize the weapon’s passive hence its usefulness decreases.

Xiphos’ Moonlight (4✩)

Kazuha’s best 4-star weapon and competes with Freedom Sworn at high refinement. Its passive provides buff towards his ER and EM depending on how much EM Kazuha have and gives a fraction of this buff towards his team as well.

Favonius Sword (4✩)

Highly recommended for teams with high ER. The energy particles generated from its passive can ensure Kazuha has high uptime on his Burst while also helping his team in their energy issues.
The only downside is that Kazuha’s personal damage will be lower since you have to put some stats into Crit Rate to proc the Favonius passive.

Sacrificial Sword (4✩)
Iron Sting (4✩)
Toukabou Shigure (4✩)
Fleuve Cendre Ferryman (4✩)

All are universally decent options for Kazuha if you don’t have the others. The Fleuve Cendre Ferryman is technically Kazuha’s best ‘F2P’ weapon since you can craft them in Fontaine.

Sapwood Blade (4✩)

Only really viable at high refinement in specific Dendro teams where you can trigger Dendro reactions usually through swirling Electro/Hydro on enemies with Dendro applied to them (most consistently done in Aggravate reaction comps).

Talent

C0-C6

Burst (Q) > Skill (E)

Technically for an EM-focused build, upgrading Kazuha’s talent isn’t a huge necessity since you’ll rely more on Swirl reaction. However neglecting his talent completely will result in DPS loss for your team. Keep note that upgrading Kazuha’s NA increases his Plunge attacks after E.

Main stat and substat

Sand: Elemental Mastery OR Energy Recharge
Goblet: Elemental Mastery
Circlet: Elemental Mastery

  1. Energy Recharge
  2. Elemental Mastery
  3. ATK% / Crit Rate

For stat priority, ensure that you have enough ER for Kazuha to Burst every rotation before putting into EM. If you’re running him with Favonius then you must also put some stats into Crit Rate to proc the weapon’s passive.

Energy Recharge Requirements

  • Solo Anemo: ~190%
  • Double Anemo: ~160%
  • Triple Anemo: ~130%
  • Raiden + Kazuha: ~150%
  • Kazuha + Favonius Sword: Decreases ER by -20%

Constellation

C2 > C6

Kazuha’s second Constellation is extremely powerful — not only does it make him a better support than Sucrose for reaction-reliant units, but it also buffs his personal damage and increases his Ascension 4 DMG% buff. The EM buff only applies to the on-field character, however, as opposed to the teamwide buffs that other characters like Sucrose provide.

The Autumn Whirlwind field created by Kazuha Slash has the following effects:

  • Increases Kaedehara Kazuha’s own Elemental Mastery by 200 for its duration.
  • Increases the Elemental Mastery of characters within the field by 200.

The Elemental Mastery-increasing effects of this Constellation do not stack.

Kazuha’s C2

Kazuha changes quite significantly at C6, which opens up an additional on-field DPS playstyle. He can still be played as an off-field DPS at C6, just with significantly higher damage on his Plunging Attack, as both Midare Ranzan (the Anemo-converted Plunging Attack) and Soumon Swordsmanship (Kazuha’s Ascension 1 Talent) benefit from Kazuha’s C6 damage boost.

After using Chihayaburu (E) or Kazuha Slash (Q), Kaedehara Kazuha gains an Anemo Infusion for 5s. Additionally, each point of Elemental Mastery will increase the DMG dealt by Kaedehara Kazuha’s Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks by 0.2%.

Miscellaneous

The Element which is absorbed by Kazuha’s Burst follows the priority of Pyro > Hydro > Electro > Cryo, and can be absorbed from both the active character and enemies. (i.e. Standing in Bennett burst will result in Kazuha’s Burst infusing Pyro as Bennett applies Pyro to the active character)
