Jingliu Build Guide (v1.3)

Jingliu

Jingliu’s Role and Skills

Jingliu is a DPS character that revolves around building enough stacks so she can enter her special state. Once she’s in her special state, her Skill (E) becomes Enhanced Skill (E) and she gain a huge attack boost. Every attack with her Enhanced Skill (E) now uses the stacks she’d built and drain a bit of her team’s HP. Once the stacks reaches 0 she returns back to normal and the cycle continues.

Relic sets & Planar ornaments

Hunter of Glacial Forest (4)

Hunter of Glacial Forest is Jingliu’s recommended generalist set as she can easily benefit from the set bonuses. For non-Quantum weak enemies, this set pulls ahead ahead of Genius of Brilliant Stars.

Genius of Brilliant Stars (4)

Genius of Brilliant Stars is actually Jingliu’s Best-in-Slot (BiS) as it enables the most damage but comes with few caveats:

  1. Enemy should have Quantum weakness.
  2. Should always run with Pela or Silverwolf as they bring DEF shred.
  3. Better value when you have Jingliu’s lightcone since it also comes DEF shred.

The key takeaway is that DEF shred is always more valuable since Jingliu’s already has huge Crit stats. The difference only increases when you bring in more sources of DEF shred into her team.
If you don’t have the conditions to meet this set, it slightly falls behind Hunter of Glacial Forest.

Rutilant Arena (2)

Rutilant Arena is Jingliu’s best planar ornament set because she deals most of her damage through her Enhanced Skill (E).

Light Cones

I Shall be My Own Sword (5✩)

Jingliu’s signature 5-star lightcone “I Shall be My Own Sword” remains her best lightcone by ~20% margin compared to others. It gives a DMG bonus up to 3 stacks whenever her ally loses HP or gets attacked.

As Jingliu’s Enhance Skill (E) consumes teammates HP whenever its used, this means she will always achieve max 3 stacks as long as nobody is dead.

On the Fall of an Aeon (5✩)

Although the damage difference between it and Jingliu’s Best-in-Slot (BiS) is significant (~20% based on buff uptime), it nonetheless remains her second best option as it is also easily superimposable from Herta’s shop.

Something Irreplaceable (5✩)

Higher base attack than Fall of an Aeon, and passive damage bonus is similarly conditional but unlike Fall of an Aeon it can’t be easily superimposed to S5.

A Secret Vow (4✩)

Jingliu’s theorycrafted best 4-star lightcone due to Secret Vow’s unconditional 20% (or 40% at S5) damage bonus.

The Moles Welcome You (4✩)

Another decent option as the ATK buff can be easily obtainable for Jingliu throughout the battle.

Talent

Skill (E) = Talent > Ultimate (Q)

Most of Jingliu’s damage comes from her Enhanced Skill (E) so you’ll wanna prioritize on upgrading her Talent and Skill (E) first as they directly affect its damage. Her Ultimate will come 2nd as it also contribute a decent portion of her overall damage and is required to build stacks. Basic Attack can be ignored completely as there is no reason to use it except generating Skill Points.

Main stat and substat

Body: Crit DMG
Boots: Speed / Attack
Orb: Ice DMG Boost
Rope: Attack

  1. Crit Rate / DMG
  2. Speed
  3. ATK%

It is highly recommended to go for a Crit DMG body piece as Jingliu gains a massive 50% Crit Rate from her Talent. This also mean that to activate Rutilant Arena set bonuses, you’ll need to gain the additional Crit Rate from substats.

The debate between Speed or ATK boots can be summarized into these key points.

  1. If you are using faster Bronya (134 or 161), then you go ATK boots to let Bronya enhance most of Jingliu’s Enhanced Skill (E) attacks.
  2. You can opt for slower Bronya but make sure Bronya is slower than Jingliu (135 v 134) so Speed boots are used.
  3. If Bronya isn’t in the team, going speed boots should let you reach the standard speed breakpoints while avoiding being out-sped by mobs.
  4. Make sure you speed-tune your buffers/debuffer to be before Jingliu otherwise you don’t get any value out of them by not buffing Jingliu.

Eidolons

E2 > E4 > E6

No surprise the biggest eidolon upgrade is Jingliu’s E2 as it directly buffs her next Enhanced Skill (E) damage. This shouldn’t be too surprising considering that most of her damage comes from her Enhanced Skill (E).
